The Ballet Rocks brand was created to supply the ballet world with stylish and elegant dance t-shirts. I was tired of seeing ballet t-shirts that relied on gimmicks or tacky puns to raise a smile. Where were the t-shirts that represent our beautiful art form? Surprisingly, I found they were few and far between. For this reason, I decided to start the Ballet Rocks brand to design t-shirts that anyone who loves ballet can wear and enjoy. My additional aim was to make the t-shirts as stylish and on trend as anything on the high street.
The Ballet Rocks brand launched in 2018 with four designs, which have been brought to life by an Italian designer who has a fantastic creative empathy with ballet. Further new designs are in the pipe line.
As well as the quality of the designs, it was important to me to find a t-shirt supplier who could provide quality t-shirts with good environmental credentials. Eventually I found Stanley/Stella, a company based in Belgium, who aim to do something differently in a similar way to Ballet Rocks. They provide on-trend cotton clothing to be personalised, whilst adhering to the Fair Wear Foundation criteria. The cotton used is organic and of the highest quality. It washes and wears beautifully and will see you through many ballet classes or social occasions.
Shortly after launch, a gifting programme to my favourite dancers saw Marianela Nunez of the Royal Ballet and Ruth Brill and Laura Day, then at Birmingham Royal Ballet, choosing to wear their t-shirts both to class and afterwards. These ladies embody the stylish, elegant and passionate values of the Ballet Rocks brand.
